I recently finished work on the brand new Champion Sound flyer and since it’s been quite a while since I’ve last done a making-of video, I thought this would be a nice one to capture! Besides that I’ve added a new Behance item as well.
The 15th Champion Sound flyer (time flies!) features another sci-fi scene and is the second one in my new ‘Gamebox art’-series after the one I did for the 14th edition with Dieselboy. It is, as you might have noticed, heavily inspired by the early Atari game cover designs. Below you will find the process of creating the illustration in a making-of video. It’s spread across two sections, one for the ship and the other one for the city backdrop. If you want to check the whole video in HD format you can watch it here.
The illustration took me about 10 to 12 hours of spare time I think and after capturing it using a free program called Autoscreenshot, I edited the whole thing together using Adobe After Effects. The guys of Black Sun Empire gave me the permission to use the track ‘Maniac’ by Mindscape which is available on their label Obsessions through Beatport and other stores. More images can be found at my Behance page and feel free to download the fresh desktops as well! The video might not be that suitable for those who are sensitive to epileptic symptoms but I hope you guys enjoy it nevertheless. Feel free to post a comment and have fun watching the video!

Super Silo
Dankjewel Jasper!
Super Silo
@Leto:
Thanks! Around 2500 px wide and 4000 px high if I rembember it correctly!
Christian
Wow, absolutely stunning as always, love the insight onto your processes as well.
Bravo.
LetoAtrell
thx!! at 300dpi?
Super Silo
150 dpi at A2 format
(but afterwards scaled to 300) need to have a 64 bit system to do this in 300 dpi haha

Erg vet weer..

Very nice works and web site.
Cheers from Mexico.
Hex Omega
Awesome! …is there any video where you explain how to do that?
(tools, effects and all that) I’m a begginer with Ai and I want to improve
Super Silo
Thanks! Well most of it was done in Photoshop for starters
But to be honest I don’t think i’m making a tutorial style video since I’m not a fan (or user) of them myself when it comes to making works like these.
The best learning school is to set yourself a target and figure out how to get to it while you go. Inspiration can be drawn from everything around you; movies, games, art etc. Making original work in your own defined style is the way to stand out in my opinion. Hope this is of some sort of help to you!
Logan
WOW! Fantastic!
Still, I wish you could make a tutorial on how to draw such a good spaceship!
Max
impulse
haha awesome,music,process rocks!!!!
Yoshi Klarenbeek
Dank je voor reactie!
En voor de uitleg werkt helemaal (:
Super bedankt!

This is well thought out work… and 10-12 hours is really quick for the results you’ve got. I’m loving it. I also like the advice you gave to Hex Omega, it’s so true.
Super Silo
Thanks for the compliment!
